A bit about me:
My interest in photography started when I was in my teens and intensified when I bought my Nikon FM in the early 1980s. Thanks to a couple of excellent mentors, I was able to explore many styles of photography. Returning to school later in life to hone my skills has enabled me to begin seeing in ways that challenge both myself, and the viewer. I’ve learned to “see beyond seeing.” and have become willing to explore styles such as abstract and landscape in new ways, often combining the two. These explorations have also helped to define and improve all my photographic pursuits.
In 2010 I returned to to school to finish my degree work. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a Major in filmmaking and a Minor in photography, both serving to strengthen my skills as a photo artist. Besides my work as an art photographer, I also do portraits, model portfolios, real estate and sports photography. My photo work continues to evolve as the technology evolves and as I continue to study the techniques of other photographers as a means to improving my work.
When I started with photography over forty years ago, everything was film. However, I have embraced the move to digital as film and darkrooms are becoming scarcer. I make use of several digital programs in preparing my work, including the Adobe Creative Suite, the Google Nik Collection and several mobile apps. I embrace the use of various types of cameras, including smartphones. After all, the best camera is the one you have with you.
